Resumen
¿Es la familia una institución natural?
El presente artículo analiza la descripción de la familia como
institución natural. Para ello se establecen tres significados del
término naturaleza en la tradición aristotélica: 1)
cosmológico; 2) filosófico restringido y 3) filosófico
extendido o metafísico. El análisis muestra que los dos primeros
significados son reduccionistas y que, por lo tanto, también es
reduccionista decir que la familia es una institución natural. Es,
correcto, sin embargo, afirmar que la familia es conforme a la naturaleza
humana (significado 3) siempre que no se extraiga arbitrariamente de este
término la dimensión cultural. Se señala, por fi n, que
conceder importancia a este último aspecto es trascendental si se quiere
estar en condiciones de influir en la batalla ideológica y
sociológica que está teniendo lugar en torno al concepto de
familia.

Abstract
Is the family a natural institution?
The present article analyses the description of family as natural institution.
The author determines three meanings of "nature" in the Aristotelian
tradition: 1) cosmologic; 2) philosophic restricted and 3) philosophic expanded
or metaphysics. The analysis shows that the firsts two meanings are limited
and, consequently, it is also reductive to speak of family as a natural
institution. On the contrary, to affi rm that family agrees with human nature
is correct meanwhile this last term is not emptied out of cultural dimension.
Finally, the author remarks the centrality of this last dimension for people
and organizations interested in infl uence in the ideological and sociological
battle in course about the concept of family.
