   Cuadernos de Bioética.-
Instructions for contributors to the journal "Cuardernos de Bioetica" (2007)


Cuadernos de Bioetica, the offi cial journal of the Spanish Association of Bioethics and Medical Ethics, is a four-monthly publication containing articles and bibliographic reviews covering the whole fi eld of bioethics, especially those connected with research and clinical practice. Contributions are initially revised by the editorial committee or are invited papers. Articles that do not conform with the instructions detailed below will be returned to the authors. The journal accepts article for publication in Spanish or English.

Address: Articles for publication should be sent to L.M. Pastor. Departamento de Biología Celular. Facultad de Medicina. Universidad de Murcia. Campus de Espinardo. 30100 Murcia, Spain. They may also be sent as an attachment to the following e-mail addresses: bioetica@um.es or gibioetica@terra.es.

Material: If they are not sent by e-mail, two printed copies should be sent on DIN A-4 paper, accompanied by a PC formatted electronic support. The fi rst page should contain the following information: 1) Title in bold capital letters in Spanish and English; 2) Full name of the author or authors (also in bold); 3) Institution to which the author/s belong (in italics); 4) Address, telephone number, fax and/or e-mail address; 5) Short title of the article; 6) Between 3 (min.) and 5 (max.) key words, which will serve for classifi cation and search purposes. The second page should contain a summary of the article in no more than 250 words in Spanish and English.

Text: The text should be written in Word.7 or more recent version, with margins of 2.5 cm, on DIN A-4 paper, at 1.5 interline spacing and justifi ed, Times New Roman size 12 letters should be used as type face. Footnotes should appear on the same page in consecutive order.

Bibliographical references: All references should appear at the foot of the page and be accompanied by any commentary. To harmonize the presentation of the journal bibliographical references should fulfi l the norms that follow:

a) To cite books and book chapters
— Author’s surname with fi rst letter as capital letter.
— Author’s initial (capital letter).
— Title in italics.
— Publisher, city, year of publication and pages referred to.

For example: Spaemann, R. Personas, Eunsa, Pamplona, 2000, 72-75.

To cite chapter of a book:
— Author’s surname with fi rst letter as capital letter.
— Author’s initial (capital letter).
— Chapter title between inverted comas(«...»). In: title in italics, followed by publisher, city, year of publication and pages referred to.

b) To cite articles
— Author’s surname with fi rst letter as capital letter.
— Author’s initial (capital letter).
— Title in inverted comas.
— Complete name of the journal in italics.
— Number, year (in parenthesis), fi rst and last page of the article

Foe example: Renteria, M.T. «Bioética de las políticas de población». Persona y
Bioética 15, (2002), 701-793.

If a volume or journal is cited for a second time, cite it as follows:
Spaemann et al., op cit. 111.

If the next work cited is the same as the previous

c) To cite web page:

Reviewers: All the articles received will be reviewed by two members of the editorial or scientifi c committee of the journal. Their decision will be forwarded by letter or e-mail to authors, along with the comments of the reviewers. The editorial committee’s decision is final as to whether a paper should be accepted for publication.

Editorial rules: The papers submitted for possible publication must represent original work and should not have been submitted to another journal at the same time. When the papers are submitted a certifi cate of originality and the transfer of copyright should be sent by ordinary mail. The editorial committee will proofs.

Offprints and copies: Articles are published free charge and authors will receive 15 offprints of each article published.
